Why can't anyone spell 'fascist' correctly?
Firebrand senator J.D. Vance was last night confirmed as Donald Trump’s pick for vice president. And it turns out Vance wasn’t so happy to see a Labour government elected in the UK. London Playbook has more on Trump’s VP choice 👇

Nearly 90 years on, there seems to be little consensus about the Reichstag Fire, so I'm not sure anyone on social media is going to solve the Trump rally shooting today. Maybe time to just turn it all off.

I know I've got every right to be cynical about the incoming Labour government, but I'm happy for these little squirts who have only really known the Tories. This is them on the big anti-austerity march in 2011 & yesterday we all went to the polling station together. Almost brings a tear to my eye.

So have we actually gone and fucked the Tories then?

Looks like anti-fascists in the UK had better get organised pretty damn quickly.

Sorry to stink out the timeline with old NF, but this is quite a good one on declinist narratives and political rhetoric. Why Nigel Farage spent his first campaign speech complaining that young people don’t know about D-Day theconversation.com/why-nigel-fa...

Oh hell, I've turned into Nigel Farage.

Ah it's Farage, popping up like a toad from a pile of musty compost, trotting out lines from the fascist playbook about moral and social decline. What a rancid little tosspot that man is.

There aren't many books I want to read again straight after I've finished them but this and A Memory Called Empire are right up there. So brilliant on language, colonialism & identity/ies. Even non-Sci-fi readers might be hooked.

'Hwæt The F**k' should surely be the headline here. Beyond the usual clickbait anti-woke agenda, there's an interesting story here about the term 'Anglo-Saxon' and how it's been used. I suspect there's more to this debate than we get here, though. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05...
