So presidential pardons are a core constitutional power, and apparently pre-emptive pardons are A-OK. Does this new ruling mean that a president could issue a pardon for anyone who murders... say, Supreme Court Justices and/or congress members? ...and that wouldn't be a crime? @kenwhite.bsky.social

Note that I'm not asking because I want this to happen or because I think it's any sort of a good idea, I'm just genuinely curious if the SCOTUS has maybe overlooked some huge problems in their ruling.

It just seems like you could rid yourself of a load of turbulent priests faster than they could maybe reach a finding of your needing to be impeached if you appealed to the correct crowds and then we'd be looking at a world of trouble.
