Are there any formal standards for works to qualify? I assume there's gotta be something Japanese about them, since otherwise it would just be a comics award?

The other requirements is that the submitted works have at least 1 volume published in english (print or digital) between August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024. No self-published, limited edition/crowdfunded-only works.

For new edition of classic manga, at least 1 volume of the series must have been originally published in Japan before 2004. (20 years)
