I keep seeing fashion influencers suggesting linen sets for easy, breezy, comfy travel, so I bought a balck linen shirt-and-trousers set, and when I put it on I looked like a goth Oompa Loompa and the fabric felt like the crumb-coated sleeve Ritz crackers come in and goddammit.

Most linen is just so bad, and wrinkles when you look at it. I’ve been told this is not ‘real linen’ and that in the halcyon past there was ‘real linen’ that was soft and flattering and did all the things

I wear a decent amount of linen and find that it wears/drapes best when in a blend with cotton or rayon, and if it’s entirely linen it needs to be broken in like serious denim.

Linen is either the greatest fabric ever—hello, I’m floating through a Tuscan wheat field—or it’s like wearing a bag of barnacles. There’s no in between.

I always feel like I'm losing my mind when people recommend linen. It wrinkles if you look at it and feels like you're wearing a potato chip bag.

Literally what I was going to comment on! It’s maddening.

I have sensory issues & have trouble with linen. It seems counterintuitive (crazy even), but the best travel garments I've ever had came from Wool&. They're actually a wool blend, not scratchy (seriously), pack beautifully, & help regulate your temperature like silk. I highly recommend them!

I feel for you. Dunno if you've ever read Mary Stewart (romantic suspense of yesteryear) but her heroines bop around Europe in crisp linen dress all the time, inspiring me to purchase linen dresses that immediately lose all semblance of crispness when they come into contact with my body...sigh.

Every time I wear my linen travel dress, it's signing on for another 10 minutes of ironing.
