It's heartening to read that I'm not alone on this journey of pursuing something like this later in life. I'm older than many of those in the article, but it still adds extra hope and encouragement for me. I don't believe it will be easy, but nothing worth it ever is! www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Ok, bragging time *again. Finished my second Astronomy course at ASU again with an A, but most proud of the below comment on my final project from my professor. Final project was an "update" to the course material on Exoplanet research since the material was recorded in 2015.

Assembling all my (new) gear to attempt to photograph the solar eclipse on 08-April. I'm about 2 hours from totality, so I'll be making the trek. Hoping for clear skies here in the Northeast. 🔭

Great article highlighting what JWST has been able to shed light on over the past 18 months in the field of exoplanet research! I love reading/learning about this, and I'm excited to see what the next generations of telescopes will allow us (me hopefully included) to see! 🔭🪐
We are now more than 18 months into JWST science operations. How have astronomers used JWST to study exoplanets? What have we learned from all this beautiful new data about planets around other stars? 🪐🔭🧪 Learn more: webbtelescope.org/contents/art...

Can I brag on here for a moment? Wednesday evening, I completed my first college course in 25 years, wrapping up the Habitable Worlds class through Arizona State University. My final grade, a 99.27%! I'm ecstatic about that! This is the first step in my journey towards becoming an astrophysicist! 🔭

Would it be through the signs of Aurorae on exoplanets that we can infer a magnetic field, or do we have other ways of detecting a magnetic field on an exoplanet? 🪐

Just submitted my final project for my "Habitable Worlds" class at ASU with a score of 258.83/260 or 99.55%. We had to find 1 of 10 potentially habitable planets in a simulated galaxy of 500 stars using what we learned throughout the course. I thoroughly enjoyed this course, especially the project 🔭

Libraries are arguably the best thing the United states has going. They are not just book collections. They are free public space, job finding lifelines, connections to family genealogy, vital resources for parents. Libraries should be funded, utilized, and universally accessible

Decided to try my hand at the Advent of Code this year as a way to teach myself Python, since it's used so heavily in Astronomy. My background is a Java developer (self-taught there too), so this should be fun. My solution for Day 01 isn't elegant, but it's done, and it returns the correct answer. 🔭

Heads up, friends. A Class 4 Geomagnetic storm is headed our way for end of this week! There should be lots of nice aurora, even getting to mid-latitudes. If you get to a dark sky, and have a phone that can do 30-sec exposures, you should be able to catch them. Point towards the N/S poles. 🔭🧪
