Just finished @chuckwendig.bsky.social’s deeply disturbing Black River Orchard. Went in with high expectations (Wanderers is one of my most recommended books) and was not disappointed. SO GOOD. If you like dark fantasy or horror, you need this book in your TBR.

I am currently reading Zoje's upcoming follow-up to BABY TEETH, titled DEAR HANNA (it's technically a sequel but totally works as a standalone), and woooooof lemme tell you it's gonna make you feel all kindsa squirmy. Needless to say, I'm ADORING it.

BABY TEETH = never have children GETAWAY = never visit the Grand Canyon WONDERLAND = never stay in a cabin in the woods MOTHERED = never let your mother move in w/ you ZOJE STAGE = ruining your life since 2018 😂😂😂😂😂

GODZILLA MINUS ONE pulls off an amazing subversion of the usual fun & games of the franchise: when buildings start being destroyed and people start fleeing, this time it’s DEEPLY upsetting. It makes you want to see as little kaiju carnage as possible, because of the human toll. So beautifully done.

What a talent. Any Stephen King fans who haven't experienced her narration of DOLORES CLAIBORNE are missing out on a definitive audiobook experience. I briefly worked with her on a workshop &, of all her many credits I coulda fanboyed over, it was that audiobook I couldn't stop blabbering about.

Aw, RIP Frances Sternhagen. Always loved when she popped up as Cliff's mom, but my favorite role of hers was in Misery, where she and Richard Farnsworth were the model of a perfect marriage. "There's that spice again."

The contract has been signed and I’m psyched to say a translation of MARY is coming to Brazil! (Sorry, UK friends, still no edition of MARY or NESTLINGS in sight for you, despite our efforts. We’ll keep trying! In the meantime, petition your local publishers … or learn Portuguese, I guess?)
