I have had this experience with cheeses and wines. Had a wild experience with a wine at an upscale seafood place. Waiter recommended a wine based on what we were ordering. Was really disappointing on tasting. Then he said take a bite of the scallop appetizer. It completely changed!

2/2 This week I have another English cheese, a mature Double Gloucester. At first I was a little disappointed: it tastes okay (it tastes exactly like a good Double Gloucester). Then I realized it was actually delicious; I was just expecting too much from it. Will happily buy again.

I'm afraid I can only report half a baguette with Stilton and red onion. It being from Tesco, I expect scorn contempt! 🧀

And to go with my fresh & warm, Porridge Loaf I’ve opened a new Goat’s Milk Gouda. Nice Gouda with hints of goats cheese & a slight sweetness.

Another limited edition from Lidl- Spanish Matured Goats’ Cheese. An amazing more tasty goats cheese- like hard goats cheese but more robust & flavoursome! Wish I’d bought another!

This is Peanut, a Blue Picardy Spaniel (French sheep dog). They’re born white and the coat turns bluish-black later. He was born with a black peanut shape on his back. He’s just finished a 10 day holiday with me 🐕

Redcurrant I planted two years ago has produced a small amount of fruit, 370g, so I have made a tiny amount of redcurrant jelly from it. I've tasted it and it's good.
