Hyun Sook and I just saw Handsome Guys, the Korean remake of Tucker & Dale vs Evil, directed by her nephew Nam Donghyub, and he introduced us to the entire cast! It's really a mashup of the original and another cult favorite, so it's Tucker & Dale vs Evil Dead!

So many creators are bringing back their beloved characters from decades past for new stories! I'm sure many are wondering where the lovable old crank cartoonist from my early aughts webcomic Welton Colbert is now. Well, wonder no longer! He's dead.

A few year ago, Booklist asked me to make a little comic about why I love libraries. This is what I made! I was so excited to visit my childhood librarians and show them how much they meant to me. One of them was still there and said "Wow, this is great but I don't remember you AT ALL."

Please. Give us more small, personal, dorky stakes. In Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the stakes we follow are "I hate small tree with fake sky. I want apes to climb tall tree with real sky where my daddy used to take me." Everything else is an escalation as pursuing that gets out of hand.

The similarities did not occur to me until this exact moment, because this is just what neighborhoods look like where I live, but I wonder how many people thought the cover to Student Ambassador was intended to be a reference to Oldboy? Oops!

Hyun Sook is MY hero, so it's cool to see that she is Book Riot's hero, too.

The height of comedy to me as a kid was calling 1-800-WISHBONE, then quickly handing the phone to whoever was nearest to me and saying "it's for you." They'd immediately be greeted with everyone's favorite 90's PBS show dog host excitedly saying "Helloooo! It's me! Wishbone!"

Hahaha, unable to show actual evidence of his imaginary "pornographic books in children's libraries," he has gone on to posting videos of books that are clearly adult gag gifts and pretending they are in children's libraries.

This was not the first time she cruelly publicly betrayed a querying writer's trust. Do not let this scare you out of writing, or seeking representation. Do let this push you to be careful who you work with. Great agents are great! Bad agents are worse than going it alone.

The agent has since deleted all of her social media pages (except Bluesky, oddly) But man, this poor writer. Imagine going online and seeing a million tweets about how some weirdo would rather commit career suicide than represent you. I hope they keep going and prove her wrong.
