Israelis have democratic representation in the government that controls their movement in and out of their country, trade, and all other roles of government.
Palestinians do not (Israel controls these things). They are stateless prisoners.
“Free Palestine” means fix that injustice.
Hamas took power when Israel STOPPED occupying Gaza.
That it withdrew keeps getting ignored, but it matters.
(As does Arafat rejecting peace, which also created much of what we are still contending with today.)
This report from 2007, which I cited earlier in the thread, shows that Israel has in fact never relinquished control of Gaza.

It seems your position is that this isn't happening. This is then an empirical dispute, not a moral one. It can be resolved with research.
I dispute that document's characterization. I won't dispute that Israel occupies the West Bank, but it withdrew and left Gaza to self-govern, which is how Hamas came to power. Hamas has governmental power. Which it uses horribly, and to attack its neighbor, who thus has to exert defensive control.
I won't pretend to be an expert on the facts of life in Gaza since 2005. I think I'd be happy to agree to disagree about this for now. Thanks for your replies, though.
It was published in 2007 to refute Israel’s 2005 claim, referenced above, that they had “withdrawn” from Gaza and therefore had no more responsibilities to ensure the well being of Gazans, since the occupation had “ended.”
Yes, everything is the same as it was in 2007 😆
You may not have noticed, but a whole lot of shit has gone down since that, like Hamas taking over Gaza 😉
I’ve provided some evidence that the claims Israel made in 2005 of having relinquished control were still not true two years later, in 2007 (note that this is *after* the 2006 election Hamas won). I am not aware of any evidence this has changed, and don’t feel the burden of that proof is now on me.
Well, I guess Israel is going to have to be dismantled because of this revelation!
Thanks for your insight into the Middle East crisis.
You can go home now.
