I will vote Democrat no matter what bc I think the right is dangerous. But why am I expected to lie about what I see? It seems absurd to blame “the media” for this.
The theory is Democrats need to act the same way as MAGA cult does in response to "attacks" on their candidates & VBNMW to win. The problem is MAGA voters are much more likely have authoritarian tendencies.
The red cult will always be larger, and this behavior may drive away nonpartisans.
Or, Democrats could deliver policies that aid average people and thereby undercut the fascist impulse. They won't because the US lacks an opposition party.
Biden is a different variety of what is variously claimed about Trump's behavior and politics. Ironic and horrifying.
I agree with you. I was trying to explain what I think is going on with VBNMW. I think Democrats lost their way a long time ago and ceased to become an effective opposition party. VBNMW is the current step in a process I think started with the Third Way.
I had to look up what this meant lol. I'm not big on scolding people for how they do or don't vote -- people have lots of good reasons to be upset about Biden/ Dems generally. I do take some personal offense at some of the chattering class gaslighting on what seems plainly true.
Observing the scam that neoliberal Democrats have run for two generations, then describe calling it out as gaslighting, leads nowhere useful.
But it encapsulates the disastrous state of liberal politics.
