If you break politics down on a pie divided by collectivist/libertarian and Democratic/authoritarian diameters, collectivist and libertarian extremes both meet at both the authoritarian and Democratic apex. Shitlibs and centrists on one pole and fascists/statists at the other.
It's a construction I ran across in college that may have been the work of the professor who shared it with us, but it made a lot of sense and was, essentially, a much more complicated version of this model.
But i had it, moving clockwise from bottom left (true democracy)
Republic
Social Democracy
State Socialism (9 O'clock)
Collectivism
Communism
Fascism (12 O'clock)
Anarchy (practical, not Kropotkin)
Libertarianism (3 O'clock)
And then a gap back to 6.
