I'm looking at all the replies saying "she writes her own music!" and...that's a pretty low bar? I mean, she's pretty and her songs seem to be catchy though IMO ultimately forgettable.
The real question to me is why are groups like Imagine Dragons popular. Taylor Swift's music is unoffensive. I have no problem with it. But Imagine Dragons seem to make carefully-crafted music for people who hate music.
Whoever programs the music for Peloton fucking loves Imagine Dragons and I have to prescreen each ride to make sure Thunder isn't in the playlist because there's no way I can continue a difficult climbing sprint with that sonic abomination draining my very will to live.
It's really the fact that every "thunder" is in a different voice (the best one of course being the computerized baby voice) that sends it into "I'd rather be waterboarded" territory for me.
