It says something about the hard hitting publications out there that they nailed an old man to the wall for being old, but can’t aggressively go after a convicted felon who was just crowned king in waiting. I don’t care about Biden at all. But the news media is useless for protecting democracy.

It beggars belief that this is not all being coordinated in some way.
Fuckin called it

It seems weird to require presidents to swear to uphold the constitution while they are apparently not bound by it, so long as they’re operating under their authority as the executive. We’re basically just getting constant constitutional amendments from the Roberts court.

I think this is the fundamental asymmetry underlying every aspect of the conflict between the parties; you see it in the Senate, in gerrymandering, in the use of executive power I don't want King Biden either, but it's long past time to make the GOP afraid of the consequences of endless escalation
I honestly believe that a lot of conservative strategizing is based on the correct assumptions that liberals would never be as ruthless as they are.

/8 At any rate, congratulations to the Federalist Society for an achievement beyond the reach of the British, outside the grasp of bloody civil war, impossible to Nazis and Soviets and terrorists: defeating the American idea.

One of the more striking things about the last 8 years is that a lot of random posters from myriad backgrounds have been consistently right about where the country was headed, and the pundits and political classes have been very, very wrong.

Biden can use the military to stay in power and do virtually anything he wants. But what he can't do is use experts to protect consumers, fight climate change, or forgive student loans.

"These are the things presidents do" kind of gives the game away. I feel like I'm hallucinating. Roberts and co think they, and people like them, are going to be in absolute minoritarian rule forever. I hope they're wrong.
Maybe I'm super fucked up but having the supreme court declare that J6 was fine and good actually feels worse than J6

Remember the presidential commission on SCOTUS?

SCOTUS about to give the rubber storm to “when you’re a star they let you do it”? I have no idea what’s coming, but being a lawyer feels increasingly silly under this Court.

The Spurs are going to be a priority league pass team. Mostly because of Wemby, but there’s some fun potential elsewhere, too.

One thing that might help: say this when you’re speaking to the public, not just in opinions that 99.5% of the country doesn’t read.
As Justice Elena Kagan wrote in her dissent last Friday, “The majority disdains restraint, and grasps for power” — and the justices are “making a laughing-stock” of long-standing judicial principles. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...
The Supreme Court Is a Joke. It’s Not Funnywww.rollingstone.com The justices accidentally, repeatedly referenced laughing gas in a disastrous ruling before declaring that judges know better than agency regulators.

Typically, you want to arrest the leaders of a failed coup ASAP afterwards. Otherwise, they run for president again

So, in essence, the mayor gave himself $13,000 of taxpayer money, after giving his buddy $1.125m in taxpayer money.
For anyone wondering, the instant case here was GLPB cutting a $13k check to the mayor of Portage for "consulting services" after the mayor put a friend Reeder in charge of contracts. Reeder testified at trial that he intentionally drafted bid specifications to favor GLPB for contracts worth $1.125m

The simplest explanation for this is that GOP members of the Court know this is how their people (including some members of the Court) do business, therefore there can be nothing wrong with it. Taken further, this is very likely how most of your GOP state and local government is run.
The final SCOTUS decision today is Snyder v. US. Kavanaugh has the court's 6-3 decision on ideological grounds, holding that the Section 666 bribery statute does not apply to "gratuities" given for public officials' *past* acts. Jackson writes the liberals' dissent.

This seems bad for Trump given the Colorado districts going for less trumpy candidates, right?
The AP has projected that John Curtis will win the Republican primary for #UTsen (Mitt Romney's seat). Curtis is a mild-mannered moderate, so the MAGA GOP faction fails to pick up a Senate seat here.

Not sure why no dem/left of center messaging/news apparatus has popped up post Obama’s second win. It’s totally asymmetric informational warfare. Dems send frantic spam and email/texts asking for $5. While the GOP has fox, twitter, Newsmax, etc. Propaganda works.

To the extent that “voting is not enough” I think this may be one of those things folks in positions of power are going to have to be prepared for. Post 1/6 was pretty much the exact opposite of what the playbook should be.
A serious attempt by legislators or a candidate to invalidate a plainly valid election to install someone who plainly lost the election as president is not a "legal hack" or "finalizing results". It is treason. It is a treason against the United States and its citizens. We shouldn't dance around it.
