Reminds me of the people, including members of Congress, who went and packed picnics to watch the first Battle of Bull Run. Then had to run for their lives
Hell, I'm not even in your country and I worry about how a US civil war would affect me
We have our own embolden-able right-wing chuds, but even if those guys stay home the Canada-US supply chains are pretty intertwined
I think "widespread food shortages" is the lightest we could possibly get off
We've become so desensitized to violence we don't realize that the real thing is terrifying! I've treated a lot of PTSD from combat, sexual trauma, etc & the stories are hard to hear or bear witness to. Living through them would be nightmarish. It's stuff you just can't imagine. Makes me want to cry
I think it's entirely possible for a lot of people. If you're an evangelical in the suburbs I doubt you'd see anything besides a technical parked next door pulling an ammo crate out of a garage or a checkpoint or something. If the food and energy infrastructure are ok they won't care.
If it comes to it it'll be over in an afternoon. It will be coordinated and enhanced by frontier machine learning. We will get a phone alert that something silly is happening, and then depending on our digital footprint and whoever did the shooting, we either find out more later or don't.
