🧵 I discovered something very weird last night. Apple had a bunch of chemical spills/leaks at 3250 Scott (you'll hear more about this soon!) & city HazMat helped keep it quiet, but in 2020 a Cal gov official requested a copy of a 2019 incident report for phosphine & silane leaks…

No they don’t do it at all. Quite the opposite in fact. The Religious Right spent decades getting betrayed by politicians who promised to overturn Roe. They voted, in numbers, and got attention that way. They never sat it out because they actually understand how this game works.

If someone's telling me not to vote, I'd like to know their take on actual policies that are at stake in the election. The NYT, apparently, does not think that's relevant.

The discourse around biden needing more sleep is fully insane. Does no one remember "Executive Time," the thing Trump spent the majority(!) of his schedule on where he would just watch TV and tweet? Dude was categorically unable to fulfill any of the demands of the office and the press barely cared

Haha you fool you fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia. But only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
You're right. I did lose a million dollars last year. I expect to lose a million dollars this year. I expect to lose a million dollars next year!

Right, if you can't say with your whole chest "Biden is the Democratic Party's nominee for 2024 and until such a time that he steps aside I will support him whole-heartedly", you don't have the strength to actually fight fascism. If you are shitting bricks over 0.3% in the polls you're cooked.

Let me be clear. In my opinion, John Roberts has joined Roger Taney (Dred Scott - slavery) as a Chief Justice who will be remembered as an evil man. Not just wrong, but worthy of eternal condemnation for trying to destroy the Republic.

With regard to former Sec. of Defense Mark Esper’s chilling account that then-President Trump wanted troops confronting protestors in Lafayette Park to “shoot them in the legs”, I’d love to hear someone ask the follow up question whether Trump understood that people would fall & get hit in torso.

Yes, he forced a 12 yr old to perform sex acts for him with another underage child. MSM should be talking about this. But they’re ignoring it. Let’s not make them ignore it. I posted the document link on my feed. You can check it out. It’s 6 pages.

I honestly don't know how compromised Biden's mental state is but I will for sure not be relying on the assessments and opinions of people who would absolutely raise Ronald Reagan from the dead if they could find a willing voodoo priestess who could pull it off.

Sorry, folks, this year "no vote" is a vote for fascism, don't be that person, voting is a necessary if not entirely sufficient act

Not that anyone is asking me, but I have no idea what the Democrats should do right now. All the options seem bad, and there isn’t one that seems less bad than the others. And as a professional opinion-haver, it’s disorienting to have no strong opinion about something so enormously consequential.

I firmly believe it is ALWAYS worth flooding the zone with reminders of how Trump is a convicted felon pedophile rapist who pees on people. That is how the GOP plays the game. We should too.
Do they really matter at this point? His cult don't care and the rest of us loathe Trump with or without the tapes.

it’s either sophism or it’s sloppiness, either way, damage is done, both in terms of whatever atlantic reader believes it (and doesn’t think too hard about the process) and in terms of my opinion of a writer who i genuinely have had a good deal of respect for, even when i’ve disagreed with him

forgetting that the house has to weigh in on this (and adding it as a one-off after the fact without noting it) is a pretty fucking critical omission, man, it is not a small thing, it changes the entire scope of outcomes.
That was added in the last 20 minutes. The next sentence for me (on the copy of the page I loaded before writing that comment) changes topics entirely.

Notice how everyone is somehow talking about Biden Too Old right now, and NOT about how the Supreme Court just legalized Trump being a dictator for life and gutted the administrative state, and how the Heritage Foundation is now issuing terrorist threats? Think that might not be an accident?
That part isn't the disinfo part. It's the chaos and rumormongering that is going to be used to get Mike fucking Johnson etc. into power once they push Kamala Harris out of the line of succession. It's also being used to distract everyone from mounting a coordinated response to the Supreme Court

I don't even disagree in principle with them that Biden is not the ideal candidate, it's just abject cowardice to take that position NOW, as opposed to 15 months ago.

What is sending me over the edge are people in my life who are genuinely smart, capable people yet, can’t see the NYT for what it is and fall for their garbage every time. same folks who sent me NYT pieces re~ Ron DeSantis = the one, currently lighting themselves on fire over the debate.

It makes me feel very much unmoored from reality to see all this *buying into* the Biden Too Old ratfuck narrative, days after the Supreme Court ruled that Trump gets to be dictator for life, just weeks after Trump became a convicted felon (oh, and there’s the Epstein stuff that just came out).
It really is making *me* feel crazy to see a bunch of other Democrat voters running around screaming about how Biden is now unelectable, on the basis of one bad debate and an incredibly obvious ratfucking campaign by America’s most craven newspaper.

I am an upper-middle class white guy but it consistently blows my mind that the Trump plan to put a permanent ICE contingent every Latino neighborhood (because that's what it would take to deport every illegal immigrant) has garnered almost no coverage. They're aren't kidding, they're gonna try.
The basic problem here is the voters think that the Trump presidency was great actually. I am convinced this is some kind of trauma response to 2020 where people think bad things can never happen. If the race keeps going this way I guess we'll find out.

Trump’s re-election will mean four hideous years of the GOP playing constant Civil War Chicken at best - as this Heritage Foundation ghoul made clear - and actual civil war at worst. Avoiding that bloody nightmare is a pretty damn good reason to suck it up and vote for Biden.
