Oh my god’ it was HUGE! And its a lasting meme. White people have barf bowls we also use for large salads and halloween candy and popcorn. Washed in between but white people washing so…

THE HALLOWEEN CANDY BOWLS WERE BARF BOWLS??

This is the issue Brooke. It's not having a barf bowl it's having a multi purpose barf bowl

Wait. Wait. Wait. Why do people reach for a barf bowl? Have they never heard of trash cans with liners or toilets? Setting aside the multi-purpose stuff, the physics of a large bowl virtually guarantees a hot mess due to splash back, etc

We had like a bucket thing that was basically trashcan shaped but slightly smaller, mainly because it was literally for when my sister and I were children and was for us exclusively. It got trashed when we were older. *shrug*

and exclusively for that * Using it for other stuff is weird af

Right?! I can't even begin to understand the rationale for a barf bowl for kid vomit— that stuff is projectile!

I think it’s because it needs to be small enough for a child to hold while lying in a bed or on the couch We didn’t have either bowls or buckets as a kid, so I don’t actually know

We tried a small bucket/trash can once when our kiddo was sick recently but it didn't work. Kid barf comes up so fast and so violently that the best course of action is to scoop them up and rush them to a toilet as quickly as possible— and accept that there's going to be a trail of puke.

That’s my approach to vomiting cats, I have to admit
Avatar
I try not to chase my cat, and encourage them to vomit on the hard floor instead of carpet. Trying to snag them always leads to them running to the carpet or hiding under the bed/couch, which is the worst outcome.
Avatar
Yeah, never chase a poop-beset kitty (I do ok with the barfers because I learned the skill in childhood)

I never held it. Id just lean over. It's more effort to lean forward into a bucket in your lap then over the edge of something

as a former kid who threw up a lot (medical side effect), a bucket on the floor next to the bed was all i could handle. i now have vertigo and still deal with similar medical side effects, so i have a collection of buckets in fun colours that i place strategically around the house on bad days.
