I'm watching Newsies and remembering that the inciting incident that leads to the Newsboys strike (in the film) is David's dad being injured at work in the factory with no workers compensation. David had to drop out of school and go to work. Without David the strike would have petered out.

My favorite bit of Pittsburgh smog trivia is that the Carnegie Museum matched the granite on their expansion (built in the 1970s) with the smog-stained limestone on the existing structure, which has since been cleaned.
