like bad stuff but good stuff too. the good carried us through so much shit, and the young will need that again, those strategies to survive hard times, hard in so many ways

I wish I WISH there were more channels for elders to talk to the babeegays about history. So much- that we had to strip in front of security in bathrooms to 'prove' our gender, a raft of queer iconography that just doesn't exist anymore hell I've even been reminded of the 90s 'clone' thing lately

Very sad news. Elizabeth (Beth) Freeman is gone. Far too soon. 💐 Beth's scholarship encompassed work on queer kinship and queer sociabilities. Before Beth was a well-known scholar, we hung out in a gang of friends in 1990s NYC amid the turmoil of queer street protest. link: x.com/inlandempero...

there's a trend of college professors who use their position to have a steady supply of young women to harass. it's a shame it doesn't get more attention.

One small favor we can do when describing these student protestors is to refrain from referring to them as “kids.” (As we all get older, this can get harder for us to do!) They’re young people actively engaged in speech and action, exercising their inalienable rights as citizens and human beings.

Do safe haven/voluntary surrender laws apply to frozen embryos, then? Are certain states about to have some very novel foster care responsibilities?

I’ve been relearning needlework. One result: an embroidered Ashmole Bestiary derp owl, 1” square.

My aunt Kathee Myers was an anti-war activist who spent decades fighting a brain tumor, climate change, and the patriarchy. And also my mother. On Halloween she wrapped up her advocacy in this world; yesterday we celebrated her life. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

If there's a microphone available, please use the microphone 🥺 Just use it, it doesn't matter if you're "loud" or a random person in the back of the room says they can hear you. It's an accessibility issue that affects me but I don't always have the energy/courage to say anything.

If Grok is “modeled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” which estate sues first?
Elon Musk has launched his epic bacon ChatGPT competitor and it has a "rebellious streak." It's got to be so expensive to run, and now he's giving it to every Twitter Premium Plus $16 a month goon. Amazing stuff. I hope it's the same AI that drives Teslas

The state of Virginia considers me and my sister next of kin for our aunt, while her devoted partner of over a decade—who had power of attorney and was the agent of her advance medical directive—is a nonentity. I get that they could have married and didn't, but it makes my skin crawl.

Have these reactionaries harping on about the advantages of a two-parent household bothered to compare it to the advantages of a three-generation household? (Or--gasp--a poly household?) Or are their arguments not actually about the benefit to the kids?

I’ll be creepin’ it real again this #SpookySeason and sharing all things ghoulish and ghastly over the #Halloween period 🎃 Nothing quite says creepy like this miniature of the Three Dead within the 14th century De Lisle Psalter ☠️💀 (British Library, Arundel MS 83, f. 127r)

Mourning Facebook once again with a friend—evil, yes, but it really eased so much of the gendered invisible labor of relationships: life updates, lines of contact, remembering birthdays, event planning, and on and on.

Clearly just a garbled take on the Latin term defunctus, which ≠ useless! As Isidore of Seville tells us, we call the dead defunctus because they have completed the duties of life. Like how you might discharge the obligations of an office (Etym XI.ii.36). Or unlike MSN's fulfillment of its duties.

Well this is entertaining: a video on fantasy maps citing me and @greenleejw.bsky.social—or rather, in an amusing set of crossed wires, citing JW Greenlee alone but having the quotes in a female voiceover weirdly similar to my own intonation.

From age 30-70 cis men lose between 1” and 1.5” in height. This massively speeds up (shrinks down?) in one’s 70s. It sure would be something if a 77 y/o had retained his max height. Just saying.
