Danish Go-Rounds (1968-1976): Kellogg's attempt to market a toaster pastry to adults--referring to them as 'toaster pastries, all grown up,'-- these spiraled ropes of dough were filled with a fruit filling and topping with icing.
Avatar
Flavors included cinnamon raisin, strawberry, blueberry, honey crunch, brown sugar cinnamon, and orange. Kellogg's leaned into evoking a cozy, whimsical European bakery in the ads, as well: "It could have happened in Copenhagen"

Listen idk how much groceries costed back then but damn only 7 cents off? Might as well not even clip that out.
Avatar
So that's roughly 60-70 cents in today's money, and a 50-cent off coupon or sale has been fairly common in recent years, so I'd say it tracks
Avatar
Candy bars were a nickel.

That actually sounds pretty great. Curious about the orange. I mean they easily coulda tasted like shit but
Avatar
Orange was weirdly popular back then, like the orange frosting that came with the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. I vaguely remember the cinnamon ones, they were indeed good
Avatar
I remember these! They were pretty good if they didn't get dried out.

“It Could Have Happened In Copenhagen” sounds like a farcical play from 1953

I would be here for these now.

"It could have happened in Copenhagen" Sounds like someone regretting not having a vacation fling.
Avatar
With toaster ovens fairly prevalent today I think these could go over well if brought back.

The baseball card really undermines the “for adults” part
Avatar
Not when you consider the fact that it was "greats of the past" which would have been a nostalgia for baseball's "golden age" when adults in this era would have been kids
Avatar
The 3D cards were players like Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, etc.
Avatar
Ah so even MORE to the point! This was aimed at people in their 50'/60's, as well as their Boomer children who had grown up hearing about these players like gods

Avatar
These look like they’d really fuck yo your toaster
Avatar
they're for sophisticated adults, so the baseball card that comes included in your breakfast is for a retired player, not one of these long haired 70s brats that doesn't respect the game.

Avatar
"Honey, what's wrong? You haven't touched your pastry paper clip..?"
Avatar
Someone should price one of those baseball cards advertised on the box.
Avatar
I was curious about those as well, the cards released in the early 1970s range from $1.25 to about $15 on eBay, although I didn’t see anyone like Ruth, Gehrig, or Mantle.

Interesting and tasty idea

Look what they took from us
Avatar
I remember these being more dough than fruit. Plus they got stuck in the toaster slots. Pop Tarts were much better.

It's not often that I see a product on here that I've never heard of before. But you've done it today.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who sees this and thinks of the Thirty Years War.
