Liberals profess various left egalitarian commitments that they're unwilling to fight for in a serious way while maintaining their support for capitalist oppression.
This logic is just how "leftists" (whatever that means here) rationalize their sociocultural sympathies with Democrats.
Socialists should ask themselves why so many liberals "almost get it" instead of "actually get it", because despite the willingness of some to trivialize that difference, this teeny-tiny paper-thin obstacle has proven enormously resilient and consequential for a very long time now.
It's always "We believe in 95% of the same things! I don't understand why you're so angry?" until you mention the people they elect are doing the other 5%, then it's "I HOPE TRUMP SENDS YOU TO THE CAMPS YOU COMMIE."
