Please vote, dear 18th century friends and colleagues. This is our big shot at making our structure reflect who we are and who we want to be in future — and make it easier for us to adapt to changes ahead.
If you're in ASECS, please remember to vote on the new bylaws proposal -- unlike in our other recent elections, it really only takes a second. If you need to renew your membership, now's a great time: it means you get to weigh in on our future as a functional society! #c18

www.theguardian.com/education/ar... This is good on the OfS & how its prioritising of ‘free speech’ concerns on campuses has distracted from material problems in sector funding. Also how Bojo’s mate has led it there as Chair. We need proper sector funding & reintroduction of caps #HEUK

Excuse my ignorance but I am guessing if Biden steps aside it’s very unlikely that a replacement will beat Trump. Unless it’s someone like Michelle Obama. Right? The campaign calls for reality-star clout to defeat Trump. But she won’t run? So my guess is he stays & this just damages him further?

Hearing Tony Blair on Radio 4 talk about trans people as if they are unwell is wrong and stigmatising. Biology isn’t destiny. Gender is complex and many people do not adhere to binaries, including some cis people. We need more nuanced and brave conversations about gender. #TransRights

I get that it was a surprise result, but it's very funny to me that UK papers are explaining who the left wing group is in France only after the election. Sums up UK media's seemingly endless coverage of right wing parties.

A new low for the Tories & when it comes to their record on disability that’s an achievement for them.
According to a press release issued by the charity, a canvasser in the Livermead area suggested that Darling, who has a guide dog called Jennie, was “faking his sight loss” and “using his guide dog for ‘political purposes’”. #ToriesRottenToTheCore #GTFTO #TacticalVoting
