Driving an EV vs. an ICE vehicle will save you money. How much depends on the efficiency of the EV, the MPG of the ICE car & the cost of electricity & gas. Here's a chart based on my Kia Niro EV with what I pay for electricity (13cents/kWh) vs. the average cost of gas ($3.50). What's your MPG? 🧪🔌💡

I worked out that I pay about 20 CAD a year for powering my EV, a cargo bike I use to get the kid to school, get groceries, to the library, the hardware store and have loads of fun too all year round.

EV’s however are still not affordable for myself and many others. Running costs don’t solve the lack of entry level purchasing. I’d have switched a long time ago if they were.

I know exactly what you mean.. I remember thinking in 2008 ish that we would be purchasing our first and last ice car .. but electric cars never got competitive...we gave up waiting and got two e-cargo bikes for much less than a cheap new ice car.

EV leases are currently cheaper than comparable ICE leases!

Yes. And while this Bloomberg analysis was regarding the announcement of the less expensive Rivian R2, you can buy a Nissan Leaf for $29k, which reaches the purchase price for almost all of US new car buyers. 🔌💡

www.topgear.com/car-reviews/... One should obviously not buy a new car in general if you want to be sensible with your money. And the market for used EVs is still not that great in many places. But if you want to buy a new EV the Citroën e C3 for 22k sounds like a pretty good deal, imo.

Not here in the UK. Would be lovely if Americans remembered the world doesn’t end at their borders.

In the UK you can get the BYD Dolphin, the MG ZS EV, Renault Zoe (or Renault 5), or a number of other under-30k EVs that aren’t available in the US.

How many of those are cheaper than a 1.0 litre petrol car?
