The idea that the political left is somehow good at Disability Justice and by default doesn't have ableism built into its structures and orgs and institutions is absolutely not my experience after nearly a decade in these spaces.
And I'm not saying this makes the political left bad. It's not a condemnation. It's a defense of my decision to talk about it and request (demand) better.
In my experience, the preference of many on the left to pretend they are inherently less/not ableist, racist, etc only makes the -isms more insidious. I wish the left valued truth more than perfection and growth more than comfort.
