I absolutely believe that music is extremely important to the liturgy but “include 200 unfamiliar hymns with the expectation that individuals will flip to them on the assigned days and sight read the melody” is deranged
include like 10 for ordinary time and 5 each for the other seasons, choose exclusively the most widely-known oldies but goodies, use the extra space for literally anything else.
I listened to enough “sing the hours” when it first came out that I’ve learned what he uses for sunday week I, the gospel canticles, & a few others and I sing them that way any time I’m praying out of earshot of anyone. I sure wish the church made this actually officially accessible rather than/
