I am setting up a TV in my kid’s room and want them to have the ability to watch DVDs while not having anything internet enabled. Does anyone have a recommendation for a DVD player with face buttons for when they lose the remote some 30 seconds into having it?
“Aren’t you the PS2 dad of Bluesky? Just give them a PS2!” is a rude but valid question, but I only have one with a working laser and I’m not in a spot to drop $60-100 on another console at the moment.
I have the a spare PS4 disconnected to internet for this purpose. Certainly not a cost effective solution but also getting them a PS2 later is part of the plan.
Yeah I definitely put a spare PS2 and a little 14" CRT in my kids' room. Sorry!!!!! I'm running out of working consoles to ship to people, haha. The CD laser is even burnt out on every PS2 we have lol.
There may be portable DVD players with video out that have at least some buttons on them. You could also duct tape the remote directly to the infrared sensor on the unit.
It does baffle me how many don't have the arrows on the unit at least.
Could get a giant universal remote
Seriously though this Insignia one with model no. NS-P10DVD20 looks good. Some no-names for around the same price that advertise extra bells n whistles (an FM radio!) on ebay.
No DVD suggestions, but it always makes me so angry that every BR player I see in thrift lack even play/stop buttons. All with lost remotes. Meanwhile you could set up weekly recording schedules on any 80s VCR
