Let me see if I can summarize a few threads here 1) Elon interfered with Starlink service in Ukr to limit Ukr military ops; 2) Ukr govt relied on Starlink for internet access after the invasion 3) Ukr mil came to use Starlink bc satellite internet allowed for something like precision navigation +

4) Relying on commercial providers for core government functions involves risk 5) USG relies on military contracts for many goods and services, including SpaceX 6) USG does not rely on SpaceX/Starlink for satellite communications or military networking +

7) The Ukr-Starlink incident is a good object lesson in why you probably shouldn't rely on commercial companies to provide core govt/mil services 8) esp if they're run/owned by gullible, narcissistic oligarchs

9) this is actually kind of core to the whole defense innovation debate: whether companies will agree to DoD terms and/or are comfortable with DoD uses. (The Pentagon is actually fairly good at making these things clear in its contracts!)

It’s honestly an argument toward using the traditional US big blob military contractors as well, who are as captured by our government as our government is by them.

VC wants in on DMI, and that's one of the main reasons I am wary of it. The other big one is misplaced and short-term (read: quarterly earnings) priorities.
