What if the real discourse... was the friends we alienated along the way?

Had a conversation at a party last night in Swedish. We talked about Taylor Swift, Hamilton and how the different audiences in the US and London reacted to it, and annoying opinion writers in the newspaper. I know my coworker was really dimming down her Swedish for me but I appreciate her patience.

Full moon and a solstice? Exciting times for witchy types! Almost like when Halloween lands on a Saturday.

“These incredibly long warm sunny summer days mess with my insomnia.” is such an unsympathetic complaint. I can feel myself sneering from the future, when the long winter nights are fueling my depression.

I’ve been learning Swedish for 2.5 yrs now. I love the joke about being more fluent in the language than some other people who were born in Sweden & speak Swedish as their first language, but there’s a shelf life on that joke b/c the two and a half year old children are really catching up to me.
