A new party run by a charismatic leader who is reluctant to assume power, anti-establishment rhetoric, and popular right-of-center policy views may win the Dutch elections. Is this a unicorn or a model for others? My take on @goodauth.bsky.social goodauthority.org/news/anti-es...

Happy to see this paper with @giorgiomalet.bsky.social out in EUP! We show that voters use foreign political events to assess the feasibility & desirability of certain policies. Political difficulties lead to more skeptical and those suggesting opportunities lead to more positive policy sentiments.

Yes. All my class discussions have been extremely civil even if students visibly disagreed. And they have often been about better understanding the legal, historical, and political context rather than blame attribution.
What if universities are having civil, nuanced discussions of events in Israel and Gaza, but they are happening in classrooms, office hours, and dorms, not out in the public view of lazy reporters and not in a way that fits the narrative people want to tell?

Love the way you can hear the conversations among rugby referees and the video review (way better than in soccer). Still about 80% of the time I have no idea why something is or is not a penalty.
