Godzilla vs. Biollante is a bit overlong with too many (human) characters. That said, it's a cheesy, fun Kaiju fantasy that re-establishes Godzilla as existing in a world bigger and weirder than him alone. In short, a huge improvement over its immediate predecessor. 📽️
The 80's and 90's Godzilla movies have long been a blind spot for me, so I'm thrilled a handful popped up on Criterion.
The Return of Godzilla is visually cool but kind of dull due to a tone that feels like it's trying too hard to avoid the sillier feel of the Showa era.
