If you’re not tracking the developments in AI, a big thing to keep an eye on is how long Big Tech can afford to massively subsidize the compute power necessary for brochure experiences like ChatGPT et al in order to sell compute services like Azure.

At some point all these startups building interfaces on top of Big Tech LLMs will be acquired, raise their prices out of reach of many/most of their customers, or collapse under the VC-subsidized business models (we have seen this show before).

As always if it’s free or extremely cheap to use either you are the product or the music is going to stop just after you have organized your life or business around the product or service (or in AI’s case maybe both!). You will either feel forced to pay or forced to give it up.

And there will also be the moment when your value proposition - resting on the speed and affordability of VC-subsidized AI products - will sacrifice one or both of those advantages to market consolidation or diminishing efficiencies. Have fun though!

Do you know if there’s a transcript? I’m hard of hearing and would rather read it or follow along with a transcript. I didn’t find one at that link.

Hmm usually they do publish transcripts but maybe they’re a little behind just now. There’s an “almost good enough” transcript here: app.podscribe.ai/episode/9971... Not sure what podcast apps you use but Apple Podcasts now has transcripts for shows, too. So you can follow along that way too. ❤️

Here’s the show page - if you’re patient you’ll find transcripts there for the latest show in the next couple of days: www.msnbc.com/msnbc-podcas...
