The irony of calling anything with the Quarter in it a "Clean Zone". Street vendors and the unhoused in New Orleans are subject to an exclusion zone for the duration of Essence festival.

The place you have to hose down every monring so it doesn't smell like piss? That Clean Zone?
Yep, the place where most garbage cans are half filled with vomit. Clean.
If it doesn't smell like piss, it will again in a time measured in minutes.
And that's the way we like it!

It didn't detract that much from my fond memories of the French Quarter, but it DID leave an impression as to the social norms of that area.
