What if it’s just an absolutely accurate description of the photo with just a little fun joke as an Easter Egg? Not trying to not use it for what it’s for.

That’s exactly how I use it. I describe exactly what’s there with great detail then add extra context. For example

the example linked seems okay but it’s a very restrained example tbh. i’d normally advise against editorializing in it but noting that part of the image is inconsequential to an average viewer is helpful. just dont let it become a gimmick ive seen things 🏴🫡

i am a great advocate of alt text and am a stickler for detail. I just happen to prefer being clever if I can’t be brief. Theres no reason not to have fun with it if you’re getting your point across appropriately. It’s the people who just put jokes that are abusing the space.
