Good morning from the Swedish army museum, which doesn't believe in subtlety.

Is there a large, black monolith in the room?

Really sets the tone for the rest of the exhibition, doesn't it? Start with THIS and let it linger when reading about troop movements and martial honour and camp life.

The three skulls in the corner just chilling.

Oooooh, I’ve got SO many issues with that display… Most of the museum is really good - from a social history perspective - but that diorama kind of nullifies most of what is said in the rest of the museum. It’s such a weird choice!

I love it because it's such a transparent bit of "war bad mkay? Agreed? Okay now let's look at all the cool swords and war booty we have."

I think I remember having to cross a dark, ominous gate with written "WAR" on it? Also, one of the military feats they emphasis is failing to invade Norway and having to carry their dead king Charles XII back through the mountains...

Yes, but do they have an ‘S tank’ ?!!

Gotta love an S tank. This is a great report on British trials in 1973. Basically, the Brit crews were lazy, ill-disciplined and most likely pissed throughout the trial 😂 tanks.mod16.org/2015/04/02/r...
