I know nothing about French politics, but this article seems to downplay the fact that both the left and Macron's party helped each other win seats. That seems to me like the beginning of an obvious coalition government, non?

You'd think. Biggest problem is that coordination from the Macron side was largely the work of the PM (now stepping down), not Macron who undercut it as often as not. He's both detested and distrusted among the left bloc, who want to scrap some of Macron's signature policies.
