7/1/2024 will go down as one of the worst days in American history, and this is how the NYT website was covering it yesterday, under seven (7)(VII) articles about Biden's age.
I mean look at that subhead/tease. "Amid signs of dysfunction, Chief Justice John Roberts reasserted his authority, while the influence of Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito wanes."
All they care about is the damn horse race. Not the elevation of the president as king. It's unconscionable.
Also, in that center graphic, the liberals are in washed out B&W while the conservatives are in vivid color. Maybe that's a rollover quirk with the webdesign, like how a link fades out when you point at it? If not, that's a choice and a message that clearly favors the right. Thumb on the scale.
I will only pay for the games. Lucky past two years I have gotten the games rate for the All Access package. The Athletic is a nice bonus. Rarely read the NYT with it.
I get your point, but versus a full price subscription it is very little. Audience isn’t increased by only using the Games app and occasionally The Athletic. Not sure how the problem is solved since it appears a lot of the US media is doing the same viewing from Canada (1/2).
Also, loss of readership seems to just be replaced by RW investors that eventually drive decisions (Happened in many countries not just US). This further complicates the choice to cancel as a protest in my mind. So I’d rather pay much less only to make a point than cancel completely. (2/2)
@jwomack.bsky.social I mean, if anyone still believes the Gray Lady has been on the right side of history since Vietnam, I have very attractive bridge to sell them.
“…while the influence of Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito waned.” Such a politics-brained statement. More like Roberts joined Alito and Thomas on the far right of the court because Roberts’ party has shifted further to the right. Who gives a shit about influence if they’re all aligned?
