Counterpoint: the sun is going to set at 6.46pm this evening in Boston. This is my favorite day of the year. When we say good by to the cruelty of standard time. Living on the Eastern end of a time zone really changes your perspective on this.
This is exactly how I feel about it. We’re about to go through the reverse here in NZ and this is the actual worst day of the year, the day we loose an hour of light in the evening
Boston would be better off in the Atlantic time zone. And it’s worse for Eastern Maine where they definitely shouldn’t be in eastern time. I feel like people’s perspective on this is totally shaped by their geography
That's like saying when you fly west coast to east, you lose 3 hours of your life?
You'll get your hour back.
In November.
Just like you get your 3 hours back on the return trip to the Left coast.
May I ask how the start of more daylight, later, is the worst day of the year?
Time for a lot of people to die from preventable accidents and hospital errors.
There's no rational excuse for it. All the complaints from a tiny constituency (oh no, kids have to catch the bus in the dark!) are things that could be addressed by other means. School, etc, can start an hour later.
