I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

tom nichols—of all people???—just made a good point: you have to talk about P2025 in simple real people terms. not policy wonk terms.
if you’re talking about project 2025 on tv you need to spell out what it means beyond an authoritarian blueprint!!

Project 2025’s elimination of veteran benefits The Affordable Care Act Social Security and Medicare will get the attention of the MAGA crowd as it directly affects their pocketbook.
“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.

Project 2025 as a brand has two components. 1) A blueprint for governing, in the form of the document Mandate for Leadership 2) An effort to recruit, screen and train new Trump appointees. Other Trump officials like Johnny McEntee and press secretary Karoline Leavitt are involved in the latter.

I like to panic as much as any Democrat, but my general view still holds: SCOTUS gave Dems a tailwind with Dobbs. We haven't even started the wall-to-wall attack ads of Trump bragging about ending Roe v. Wade. When that happens in September and October, there will be a big movement away from Trump.

You know what’s even more dangerous than an offhand remark? Project 2025 and the SC ruling for Trump and I’m not hearing shit from Journalists.
This is shockingly solipsistic. And dangerous.

The level of dishonesty this paper is comfortable internalizing about itself has risen proportionally to the level of dishonesty it accepts and encourages in the copy of right-wing op-ed and guest writers, Trump sources, and "news analysis" of fascism that doesn't dare mention it's fascism
For about the millionth time, I’ll just say — having a public editor who could ask people how this happened and lay it out for readers would actually make the paper look better than fucking up this badly and then walking away from it without saying a word.

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

Project 2025 was from the Chris Rufo school of fascist communications, where you discuss your evil schemes out loud, confident the "normies" are not paying enough attention to notice. But now it seems less politically engaged people are taking notice. www.salon.com/2024/07/05/p...

Haven't changed the parts where he describes himself as abstinent from voting and as one of "those of us who remain on the wagon," i.e. a habitual nonvoter
Lmao they just changed the title of the piece from “Why I don’t vote” to “Why I won’t vote” rather than tell readers that the guy actually does vote

Suprise: unwashed fascist ghoul Matthew Walther - who wrote a column that the New York Times just published advising Americans not to vote - did in fact vote in 2020 and 2022. It’s time for us to stop tolerating these ratfucking liars.

It is time to stop paying the New York Times a dime. Yes, that includes Wordle and the recipes. Sorry.
The New York Times ratfucking operation in favor of Trump is so incredibly blatant that it’s beyond parody. If you saw ratfucking like this coming from a newspaper in a movie, you’d probably think it was a bit over the top.
