Having recently moved from the academic to the commercial side of things this rings sadly true. Everything from work/life balance, pay and a commitment to healthy, well cooked food in the canteen is better.
My serious answer to “is the FT leftwing or rightwing?” is “neither”, but my troll answer is “rightwing. You can tell because it doesn’t treat its employees like dirt and it likes its readers”.
