There's this term I came across in a reading for comics that I love: hyperframe, the space outside the panels. Japanese comics will use the hyperframe to list info about the comic or characters, mad will throw gags on there, the aforementioned tank girl would throw in music reccs...it's pretty fun
Is that that area where like, in the magazine run there'd be like, some sort of magazine-specific little tidbit or something, but when the volume version comes out, it becomes free real estate for the author to put whatever?
That might be the best reason! 😀 like it sort of helps alleviate the action if it's too serious, or you can redirect a traders attention to explain stuff...like, there's a lot of fun to be had in those spaces, I think 😄 Create different vibes on the page to entertain the reader!
