I'm a mark, aren't I.

Circus is traditionally about willingly being a mark to support ostracized people. Maybe not so much these days, but it comes to mind.

Not all that long ago, I could have been an attraction.

I'm not enough of a hunchback to be a grotesquery, but I'm flexible enough to be a contortionist, or at least I used to be. I emphasize with carnies.

I say as a former carnie, a lot of people who would have been attractions a few decades back are still out there. It's not the kind of work you're drawn to if regular society has embraced you.
