1/4 the pollution, 1/20 the pop. Didn't realize it was that bad. I mean, I know Texas exists n public transit is a dirty word everywhere but the NE, but still that's insane. And we have the nerve to tell developing countries they need to pollute less.
But China produces nearly 1/3rd of the world's carbon dioxide so we totally gotta focus on them and ignore our own stuff right guys (China produces less than half as much CO2 per capita)
This is wrong on so many levels. America's goal is to raise everyone's standard of living so that nobody wants for anything and there's no need for war - and in the process get everyone else's CO2 per capitas up to our levels. We're not greedy, we're leading the way.
This is actually not true, and has not been true since about 1980 (excluding countries with less than 1 million people), when UAE produced 36.31t/cap vs the US's 21.55t/cap. In 2021, Qatar produced 39.88t/cap vs US's 14.93t/cap. ourworldindata.org/grapher/co-e...
