As a little kid, I had this phase where I was very interested in the Civil War. My parents took me to Gettysburg and I got a union hat at one of the gift shops. This old woman at the register kept asking why I didn't choose a gray one. I later realized she had what I am pretty sure was a klan hood

I was like 8 or 9. She wasn't calling attention to it and it wasn't like standing up so not very visible or unmistakably triangular. It was like hanging by the register. I really remember the exchange cause I was confused by it and she gave a weird vibe.

Some months later, I was looking at some SPLC publication and saw a picture of a klan hood that had like snaps where a mask could attach. It looked exactly like what she had. I am pretty damn sure it's what I saw.

I just add the clarification in case anyone is confused when I say I am pretty sure of what I saw. Separate from this and even as a little kid - and this was like 30 years ago - I found the amount of Confederate stuff there disturbing.
