Fun fact: Being antiwar is actually the moral default position.
It's not for antiwar demonstrators to justify their position, it's up to the pro-war people to justify theirs.
Yup. And sometimes there's a perfectly fine answer (e.g. "we'd don't like it either, but the actual Russians actually invaded and they're kidnapping literal kids").
If Ukraine 🇺🇦 does not fight back and defend their country they will be annihilated as a sovereign nation & distinct people & culture
Therefore war
What does one suggest?
Should they roll over and be invaded and destroyed?
I’m a pacifist but see no other position than to support Ukraine 🇺🇦
Totally agree. War is justified in self defense when a bully attacks you. Right now, Russia is a bully that made an unprovoked attack on neighboring Ukraine. Ukraine is living their real version of the movie Red Dawn.
And wars are justifiable sometimes!
But "those guys did a bad thing" is not sufficient justification for a war. For a war to be justifiable, there needs to be a strategy that has a plausible chance of arriving at an end state that's not worse than the current situation.
Positions are opinions and opinions are thoughts and thoughts have zero moral weight.
Plus, you know who's still very pro-war right now? Ukrainians.
It's more accurate to say I'm anti-invasion.
