I understand the sentiment but I truly believe that there is no bottom for these people. Especially bigots. We are talking about people who have been poisoned against libraries, school lunches & life saving vaccines. There is no rhetorical point or threat of harm that will turn them around.
“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
Well, yes, you aren’t going to convince nazis by talking about parks. However, this is the kind of concrete thing that seems to remind people that government is real and actually has an effect on people’s lives. Immigration is complicated, but lots of people have been to Yellowstone and went “Neat!”
Telling people who don’t vote very often that someone wants to take that away from them is probably gonna prompt more of a response than talking about fascism. The kind of people who haven’t already made up their mind are convinced by the dumbest shit 🤷🏻♂️
