I kind of have been for awhile, with my 20-crate runs of tea between the island chains, but while in Fort Aestrin, I bought five crates of gems. I sold four in Happy Bay, then rolled the profits into timber, fine sculptures, and gold. Doubled my money in 18 days.

Luxury goods are good shit, because their size-to-value ratio is often advantageous; your ship only has so much space, so you're best off stuffing the hold with gold. But small as these luxury crates are, they can be heavy. Which can be bad. Especially in storms. So as usual, it's a balancing act.

Timber and sculptures, shown here on the dock, aren't small at all, and more of a challenge to ship. But the pay is luxury, at least.

BUT, I really fired up Sailwind to check out two new, small changes. One, there are more NPC ships in the world. And these bitches srsly need to watch where they're going. I am in the Cybertruck of the seas. The games of Chicken need to stop.

This would probably be WAY more annoying if I was in a smaller boat. BUT: The second change? My favorite. love it. No notes. Maps... can now be rolled and un-rolled with a right-click.

I have excellent childhood memories of smuggling bioweapons in another game for just that reason. How much does the game deal with cargo handling? Does placement/balancing of your load affect anything?
Cargo placement is a huge issue. Dense items like iron, copper, etc. are wonderful because you can tilt the whole ship by moving a crate or two. It also accounts for YOUR weight, which matters in the small boats!

Ah, memories of "How to become so wealthy you can afford a new starship in just a year or so" playing Traveller 1st edition in... 1978 or so? Pen and paper rpg, no computer games available to me for that yet 8-)

Is this game as chill and relaxing as it looks?

This seems like the perfect SteamDeck game, but the controller support was pretty janky the last time I played

Or maybe I'm just bad at games :D

That's such a bummer! I was just sitting here thinking it looks perfect for the SteamDeck!

That was a couple months ago that I played it, and I know they've been doing constant improvements. And also, I'm bad at video games.

I've been wanting to play a sailing game for so long. I should give this one a try.
