(Googles) Her last film. Her career lasted fifty years.

Apparently she was big on TV during the 60s. Which is a time I was watching way too much TV. Yet I don't recall her, probably because her work was too soapy for me.

I haven't used Hebrew since my bar mitzvah, but I seem to recall that diacriticals aren't crucial to reading it. You certainly won't see them on newspaper pages.

Google Lens's attempt to translate the page is amusing. I think it's not really good with right to left languages.

If you need cute animal pics, Chubb and Fred are here to oblige.

You're saying Northern Pike aren't cute?

Wait, you're saying this sellers postcards aren't genuine?

Only Chubb, the big lady in back, is a proper void. Her fur is so black, I was lucky to get a decent pic of her. Fred is disqualified from voiddom by his cravat (hence his name) and by the reddish tinge to his fur. Here's a pic of Fred with Tux, another non-void I lost a few years back.

I stand corrected. You've got four? All I can do to manage 2.

Yes they do. They even made a TV show about power struggles in the Fresno raisin industry. It was a real eye-opener.

The Meta AI does better with counting, BTW.

But what I'd really like to see LLMs doing is stop pretending that are genius thinkers. Better that they should just be a guide to more straightforward tools. Here's how Cohere does it.

Me being me, I had to poke at it.

It took several tries, but I finally found a way to ask Copilot why it fucked up. It gave a pretty good answer – but an answer that implies that you just can't rely on an LLM to answer even basic questions.

Sadly, whoever designed her quarter gave in to gender norms.

Apparently I'm a little too skeptical. I have to wonder if the purpose of this study is what they say it is. They must know that the typical Fox News viewer is going to look at those questions and dismiss the whole thing as naive libtard bullshit.

The stupidest thing is not that the Post is using extremely bad AI generated images. It's that they're paying Adobe actual money for the right to use them.

According to the Adobe AI, toys really make middle-aged guys go batshit.

If you search for "hardtack" on ecommerce sites, you get a lot of overpriced prepper crap, but also interesting things like the barley crackers that are in South Korean army rations. They're very tasty.

I rather imagine that production got moved outside the US, and whoever is doing it now is only interested in supplying Alaska. Nabisco also used to make pilot bread ("pilot crackers"). Their abandoning the product led to much protest in New England.

A tux named Tux. Gone 4 years now. 😿
See a tux, post a tux. Megatron says hello

In the early 20th century, gigantic barques used to transport grain from Australia to the UK.
“A belyana is a type of large disposable ship used for timber rafting along the rivers Volga + Kama from the 16th century until the mid 20th century. Belyanas were among the largest wooden ships ever built, with the largest being up to 120 metres (390 ft) long w/ a load capacity up to 12,800 tons.”

Soon after DMs came up, I got three spams, all from accounts that have since been deleted. One of these accounts was deleted before I even saw the DM. Which is why, I guess, my message count is stuck at one. Very distracting.

I adopted this surreal creature almost a year ago. You should have no trouble finding a black cat of your own, since superstition makes them hard to place.

Back in the 70s, there was a novel in which a science fiction writer goes to Hell and sees the place through a science fiction writer's eyes. I found it an entertaining read at the time, though if I discovered it now, I'd probably rage-quit at the authors' openly fascist politics.

I've long believed that American classrooms should feature mugshots of famous civil disobedients.
