Wheels fall off because of poor maintenance. Wheels are generally changed on the ramp on an as needed basis determined by usually the pilot,sometimes a line mechanic.The temperature on the ramp can be 10+ degrees hotter than the air temp. It's possible that heat played a role in distraction.

You don't know what led to the wheel falling off. Don't pretend that you do.
