Why we as a society decided to run with greetings in the form of a question we don’t really want answered I will never understand
I really don't know why, all I know is I'm gonna keep answering that question honestly anyways til people knock it the hell off and default to "hello" if they don't wanna know
You need to answer the question to the appropriate level of detail for how well you know the other person and how much burden you're going to place on them with your problems
The social contract is that you are willing to share your immediate state, relevant to the other party- it's not about you
I'm pretty sure there's something in the social contract about unsolicited advice too but idk. I don't read the small print, I'm just the oversharing guy.
Jokes aside, yes I hoped that was implied but one can only cover so much nuance in the 2 minute posting break between work and more work 😛

Haha, reminds me of someone I sometimes play videogames online with. I know next to nothing about that person but they always go "Hi." "How are you" and when I tell them honestly, they go "oof" and then they say what game they need me for. Social interaction at its finest. 😅
