Many of us who have traveled with wheels or mobility devices have had this happen. Airlines can't be bothered, for the most part; they are quite clear they don't care. My experiences with @AmericanAir have been so bad that I refuse to fly it ever again.

This literally happened to another one of the wheelchair basketball teams who got here today! 🤡 They received all 10 of their basketball chairs in PIECES and were scrambling to put everything back together (and praying all the parts were even there). 😰 #FlyingWhileDisabled

Worst I’ve ever seen an airline pull was when I took a Westjet flight with my mom to BC and they brought her wheelchair out in a box completely disassembled down to the nuts and bolts. Their response when we asked what happened was “someone must have gotten bored”

It’s not a lawsuit because the ADA doesn’t exist in the air. Air travel is covered by the much less comprehensive Air Carrier Access Act of 1986. Read about this injustice here: justdigitlaw.wordpress.com/2015/01/28/487/

It ought to be law that mobility aids such as wheelchairs always receive top priority when stowing luggage. Careful handling too, because they usually can’t be repaired or replaced quickly. Wheelchairs are acting as people’s legs, they’re essential, not optional.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility! There have been a lot of scary stories in recent years about transphobes being emboldened, but that doesn't change the fact that coming out was the best choice I ever made. Nothing feels as good as living as the real you. I've come so far.

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that people at the intersection of disability & another marginalized identity are treated even worse. Their damage claims are questioned, they’re subjected to invasive questions, they’re ignored, they’re treated as an object, etc. I’ve seen it. 💔

Every. single. time. I board an aircraft, I am at risk of losing my sole means of mobility for an indefinite amount of time Can you imagine what that feels like? Knowing every time you board a plane, there’s a 1 in 65 chance the airline will break your LEGS.

Yes! My wheelchair is completely custom and if the airline had destroyed it, they would have almost certainly paid to replace it. But it would take at LEAST 6 weeks to build me a new chair and that’s IF my fabricator (Colours) isn’t super busy.

Five klicks from the Texarkana border Jimmy popped the decoy drones . Another ring out of Seattle had been running mifepristone through quadcopters, and we were betting the aerials would keep the border guards distracted as we passed through the checkpoint. I adjusted my MAGA ‘32 cap. Here we go.
