This was my issue with “Bernie Bros” in 2016. I knew most of them weren’t progressive. They were just angry reactionaries. And I was not at all surprised when a bunch of them started aligning with MAGA after Bernie lost the nomination. And honestly “grifters” is an apt description
my point was that this doesn’t apply to the average leftist and only becomes an issue when you have a platform that relies on constant attention of an audience to make a living
i literally can't remember a time when 'celebrity' figures like wu and cenk were ever actively much liked by The Left but it's telling that 'celebrity' just means "a name that about 10,000 people online will recognise"
